SUNDAY'S RECIPE

DOGGIE BISCUITS

3-1/2 cups white flour +++ 2 cups rye flour +++ 1 cup cornmeal +++ 2 cups cracked wheat +++ 1/2 cup instant non-fat dry milk +++ 4 tsp. salt +++ 1 pkg active dry yeast +++ 1/4 cup very warm water +++ 2 to 3 cups chicken broth +++ 1 large egg beaten with 1 TBSP milk

Mix all ingredients up to/including salt in large bowl. Sprinkle yeast into warm water in small bowl and stir to dissolve. Add yeast mix and 2 cups broth to dry ingredients and mix well with hands(dough will be very stiff), adding addt'l broth as needed. Roll dough out to 1/4" thickness and cut into desired shapes. Place on ungreased cookie sheets (parchment paper lined would be easier) and brush with egg-milk mix. Bake at 300 degrees for 45 minutes, then turn off oven and leave pans in oven overnite. Place into airtight containers and dispense to your favorite hound as desired!

***NOTE - biscuits are human edible, albeit very hard/crunchy. Our female corgi had developed a sore on her front paw which we determined was an allergy that she always licked. We quit giving her store-bought biscuits and gave her these instead...sore is gone!.. plus, you know what's in the treat you give your animal, and its not chicken feathers! (otherwise known as chicken by-products)
